This is a satire on the culture of piercing. The text can be viewed here on limpair.net:

It is not intended as an indictment of piercing or piercers. The author does find it a curiosity, however, in extreme forms. While he has no tattoos himself, he finds tattooing a comprehensible art form; he has even been tempted to get a little one. But the spike through the tongue has never appealed to him. It seems to disrespect the human body. It makes him cringe, which may be the idea of getting one.
So far the author has never been attacked at public readings of this piece. It has only produced merriment, which is its intent.
This was recorded at "The Jade" in Earl's Court, London, when water pipes were not auditioning in the background.
